​The Challenge: Breaking the "Stock Photo" Barrier

In a healthcare environment, authenticity is the foundation of trust. As we looked toward a five-year roadmap of digital and print transformations — including the Advance website and internal SharePoint hubs — we identified a critical gap in our visual identity. Generic stock photography failed to capture the unique clinical environments of our hospitals or the diverse faces of our actual medical staff and patient populations.
 

The Strategy: Building a Sustainable Visual Legacy

I proposed and led a strategic initiative to move away from third-party licensing in favor of a proprietary, high-resolution photo bank. My goal was to create a "visual ecosystem" that would serve the organization’s communication and marketing needs for the next decade, ensuring brand consistency across all touchpoints.

Project Leadership & Execution
 

• End-to-End Production Management: I directed the full production lifecycle, from sourcing a specialized local photographer to recruiting staff and medical professionals to serve as authentic "brand ambassadors."
   

• Logistical Strategy: Coordinated complex on-site shooting schedules at Surrey Memorial Hospital, ensuring high-impact visual capture without disrupting active clinical workflows.
   

• Curated Shoot Architecture: Developed a comprehensive "shot list" mapped to future project requirements, ensuring we captured the specific technology, bedside interactions, and collaborative moments central to the Advance Program's narrative.
   

• Long-Term ROI: By building an owned asset library, I eliminated ongoing stock licensing costs and provided the organization with a permanent, high-quality resource for multi-channel campaigns.
   

The Result: A Human-Centric Brand Identity

The resulting library became the primary visual driver for our clinical transformation. These images anchored our public-facing websites, internal training materials, and recruitment campaigns, providing an authentic window into the world of 21st-century care at Fraser Health.
